East Kent Golding
Traditional Old English hop. Developed
from the Canterbury Whitebine variety in the late 1700's. Golding
consist of several clonal varients known by the name of either the
original grower or their vallage. It has been sold as East Kent
Goldings (EKG) since 1838 and is gron exclusively in East Kent by a
handful of growers.
The quintessential British hop, EKG is
a delicious example of the gentle aromas that tradditional English
hops produce. It is good for kettle hopping and dry hopping. The
aroma notes of EKG include floral, slightly spicy, honey and earthy.
It's bittering characteristics are sweet, smooth andhoney-like.
A must for British Pale Ales, British
IPAs and British Bitters.
